Most cats sit on top of a felt cave for a week before they go in. A diary of one cat who took eleven days.
We gave a felt cave to the shop cat, Wren, and wrote down what happened. It is the same thing that happens in most homes, just slower.
Days one to four
She sat beside it, then on it, then on the box it came in. The box was preferred.
Days five to ten
The cave moved to the window, where the sun reached it after lunch. She slept on top of it every afternoon and looked inside twice.
Day eleven
She went in and stayed for three hours. Since then the cave is hers and the box has been recycled. If yours takes longer, move the cave somewhere warm and leave a worn t-shirt inside.

How long a bag of kibble really lasts
The maths on the back of the bag, done properly for a 9 kg beagle, and why we pack the next bag before you run out.

Bath day, with fewer towels
Brush first, rinse twice, and keep one towel for the shake. What the shop learned from washing a cockapoo every month.

Measuring a dog for a harness
One tape measure, two numbers, and the reason most harnesses are bought one size too big.
