The maths on the back of the bag, done properly for a 9 kg beagle, and why we pack the next bag before you run out.
The feeding table on a bag of kibble is written for an average dog, and there is no such thing. A 9 kg beagle who sleeps in the sun all afternoon eats less than a 9 kg terrier who patrols the fence.
Start with the table, then watch the waist
Use the table for the first two weeks, weigh the portion rather than guessing with a cup, and look at your dog from above. If you can see a waist and feel the ribs without pressing, the portion is right.
The arithmetic
A 2 kg bag at 95 g a day lasts 21 days. A 6 kg bag at 300 g a day lasts 20. That is why the monthly box ships every four weeks by default and lets you move the date: most bags land between three and four weeks.
When to change food
Mix the new food into the old over a week, a quarter at a time. If you are changing because of an allergy, ask your vet first and tell us; we will hold the box until you know.

The cat cave, week by week
Most cats sit on top of a felt cave for a week before they go in. A diary of one cat who took eleven days.

Bath day, with fewer towels
Brush first, rinse twice, and keep one towel for the shake. What the shop learned from washing a cockapoo every month.

Measuring a dog for a harness
One tape measure, two numbers, and the reason most harnesses are bought one size too big.
